2004 SPARR “ALSACE ONE” – ALSACE, FRANCE, $6 glass, $22 bottle
In the mouth, the wine is rich with balmy fruit flavors, including pears, apricots and white cranberries, then nicely layered with a balanced texture through the midpalate, showing decent acidity levels, red apples, and sweetish minerals. The finish is a smooth and soft one with yet more pears and hints of citrus, while retaining a good “bite” through to the end with a touch of lemon drop. This is a well-made and refreshing wine that is medium-bodied and airy, perfectly suited for this time of the year.

2004 VERAMONTE “RESERVE” CABERNET – CHILE, $8 glass, $27 bottle
Deep flavors of black cherry and blackberry fruits highlighted with earthy notes and elegant oak that lends a creamy mouthfeel. Plush with soft, rich tannins, this wine is concentrated, round and luxurious with a long, lively finish.
88 points “Best Buy” – Wine Enthusiast,

2001 CONN CREEK MERLOT, NAPA, $28 bottle
“Firm, dense and well-structured, with rich currant, pencil lead, cedar, blackberry and plum, finishing with a long, concentrated aftertaste and tight, earthy tannins. Best from 2005 through 2012.” 1,100 cases made.
Wine Spectator 90 points, Wine Enthusiast 91 points

2003 SEPTIMA MALBEC-MENDOZA, ARGENTINA, $19 bottle
Fresh berries balanced with the oak of ageing, plus vanilla and roasted scents with touches of strawberry and cherry jams. Slightly reminiscent of rosemary, watermelon, pear and raspberry. Smooth and elegant flavor of very sweet tannins reminding of raspberry jam. A fruity aftertasted mixed with touches of smoked oak. Very balanced and persistent in the mouth.
